Do you also sometimes feel the profession of Public Participation Practitioner doesn’t get the respect it deserves?Through trust building and effective consultation, the important stakeholder engagement work you do can save time and money and improve the ultimate designs of projects.
However, too often it is perceived as a regulatory, box-ticking exercise, or even as a burden to progress. The only way we can change this is by promoting our governing body, IAP2 Southern Africa, and working together to get the accreditation we deserve.
Help us shape the next four years of IAP2SA
IAP2SA, the regional affiliate of IAP2 – the leading international professional body for public participation practitioners – is now four years old. Some of the board members have been active from the inception of the affiliate and have helped us achieve exciting and significant milestones. Now it is time to invite some new members to serve on the board.
If you are passionate about the Public Participation profession and would like to play a role in building the affiliate, we believe this work has never been more important than it is today. We therefore need you! All that’s required is passion and a wish to build recognition of our discipline.
What it entails
Although the Executive Committee, consisting of a Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, have a fair amount of work to do, the hours required from board members are not excessive. While we do ask that each director plays an active role in the work of the affiliate, we pride ourself on supporting each other as a team and offering an opportunity for our members to learn and grow with the organization.
Board meetings are mostly via telecom and take place about six times a year. You can read more about the different portfolios here.
If you feel you can add value to any of these, please contact us. We would really like your fresh ideas to grow the affiliate. We also welcome nominations of any person you feel may add value to the board, please send details of such a person, then we can approach them and invite them to join the board!
The closing date for nominations to the 2015 board is 3 March 2015
To submit your nomination or ask a question, please do not hesitate to get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org.
